Ingredients for this Healthy Strawberry Chia Seed Jam Recipe
Strawberries
To make a jam, you can use frozen or fresh strawberries. I’m using fresh strawberries as they are in season. You need to look for super red and extra ripe berries. This will ensure that the berries are naturally sweet, which leads to lesser honey or maple syrup to be added
Lemon juice
Lemon juice provides both, acidity and pectin
Honey or Maple syrup
We are not using refined sugar in this jam recipe, that’s where honey or maple syrup steps in. Adding it as a sweetener, balances the taste of the jam. You may even use sugar free substitutes instead of honey or maple syrup
Chia Seeds
Chia seeds contain fibre, this soluble fiber makes the seeds absorbent and perfectly suited for creating a jam consistency when mixed with fruits to prepare healthy jams. I’ve used black chia seeds, but feel free to use black or white chia seeds for this recipe
