Learn how to make cinnamon rolls with this quick recipe. This easy cinnamon roll is absolutely soft, fluffy and delicious. Rolled with brown sugar and the flavorful spice, these basic ingredients add so much more texture to simple homemade buns
To make the bread dough
- 400 grams all-purpose flour
- 180 ml warm milk
- 60 grams salted butter, room temperature
- 1 egg
- 4 tablespoon castor sugar
- 1 teaspoon Yeast (Instant/ Active dry yeast)
For the cinnamon rolls filling
- 90 grams soft brown sugar, powdered
- 70 grams unsalted butter, room temperature
- 2 teaspoon cinnamon powder
For the sugar syrup
- 50 grams granulated sugar
- 60 ml water
For the dough
In a bowl combine the warm milk, sugar and yeast together. Let it sit untouched for 5 mins or until the mixture turns frothy
Next, add the egg and butter to the mixture and whisk. Add the flour and combine all the ingredients together
Now, knead this dough for 10-12 mins or until it forms a smooth and soft dough. Once done, let the dough proof in a greased bowl for about an hour or until double in size
Once doubled in size, punch the dough back. Roll this dough on a surface sprinkled with flour (roll in a rectangular shape)
To make the cinnamon rolls
Using a palette knife apply a thick layer of butter over the rolled rectangular shaped dough. Apply a generous amount, use more butter if required
Next sprinkle the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture over the butter. Using your palms, gently pat the brown sugar mixture over the applied butter, making sure it sticks to the butter
Carefully, roll this dough tightly and cling wrap it. Refrigerate for 10 mins. Then, using a thread cut into 2-inch rolls. Using a thread yields neater swirls as compared to cutting using a knife
Place these on a 8-inch baking tray lined with parchment paper and let it proof for another 30 mins
Bake these in a preheated oven at 180 degrees C for 18 to 20 mins or until golden brown
Once baked, immedietely brush with the prepared sugar syrup. Enjoy !!
