These Sweet and Salty Coconut Chips which are oven-baked and not toasted are easy to make and a great snack to rely on for all coconut lovers

  • 1 fresh coconut
  • 2 tablespoon castor sugar or coconut sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Coconut Oil

  • Break the coconut and remove its shell. Remove the outer brown skin and wash the coconut (use only the white part of the coconut to make chips)
  • Using a vegetable peeler, peel strips of the coconut and place in a bowl. Add the sugar, salt, coconut oil and toss well
  • Place the coconut chips on a baking tray lined with parchment paper making sure the coconut pieces are spread evenly on the tray
  • Bake this in a preheated oven at 120 degrees C for 1 ½ to 2 hours or until they turn golden brown and crisp. During this process, remove the tray from the oven every 30 mins and toss it up for even baking

Recipe Notes

Once baked let it sit out for 15 minutes before storing it in an airtight container. This will make them crisp
