Learn how to make Apple Crisp with this easy Apple Crumble Recipe which is the best dessert recipe made with oats, butter and apples

Ingredients

For the apples

  • 3 big apples, sliced
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp lemon zest
  • 2 tsps cornflour
  • 2 tbsps castor sugar
  • 2 tbsps brown sugar
  • ½ tsp cinnamon powder

For the topping

  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • ¾ cup salted butter, cold a cut into cubes
  • ½ tsp vanilla essence

Instructions

For the apples

  • In a bowl, add the sliced apples, lemon juice, lemon zest, castor sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon powder and corn flour. Mix well and set aside

For the topping

  • In a another bowl, add the all purpose flour, brown sugar, rolled oats and mix well. Add the butter and crumble it with your fingers along with the other ingredients. Add the vanilla essence and continue. This mixture should be crumbly in texture

Assemble the apple crisp

  • Take a 7 inch square baking dish, place the apple mixture in it and top it up with the prepared crumble mixture. Bake this in a preheated oven at 180 degrees C for 40 to 45 mins or until the top is golden brown and crisp
  • Let the pie sit at room temperature for 10 minutes. Next, serve it with scoops of vanilla icecream
