What is a Mojito?
Mojito is a Cuban cocktail that originated from Cuba but now popular all around the world
It is originally made with white rum, soda, lime, sugar and minty flavors. Known to be super refreshing due to the perfect balance of sweetness with citrus and mint flavors
Traditionally, the mint leaves are muddled with lime & sugar and then topped with white rum & club soda
There are so many variations to this traditional cocktail. Some use fresh fruit juices and even make it alcohol-free calling it the Virgin mojito recipe

Watermelon Mojito Recipe
This Mojito is a little different from the traditional mojito explained above as its made with watermelon juice
A fresh blend of watermelon juice cannot go wrong to take this cocktail to the next level. That beautiful color is so attractive that no one would say a no when offered a glass of cocktail
It can also be made without the alcohol as watermelon is delicious by itself. Making a watermelon mojito mocktail is perfect for kids and people who stay away from alcohol
Mojito Ingredients
Watermelon
Being one the most important ingredients in this recipe, you must learn how to choose a watermelon that would be sweet & bright red on the inside. Look below for more details on it
It’s best to remove the extra seeds from the watermelon before blending it in the blender
Sugar
Sugar granules are used for sweetening the cocktail. If the watermelon itself is sweet, you can control the amount of sugar as per taste
Lemon juice
Freshly squeezed lemon juice gives the cocktail that citrus kick
Mint leaves
Make sure to use fresh mint leaves. Use a muddler to mash the mint leaves, it brings out more flavor and gives the mojito a refreshing taste
White Rum Or Vodka
Either of the alcohols do the job. You may even skip this ingredient if making an alcohol-free mojito recipe
Club Soda
There is a difference when made with just water or with club soda. That fizzy effect that club soda adds is what is essential for this recipe. Make sure the soda is super chilled before adding

How to choose a watermelon?
To make the perfect mojito, you need a watermelon that’s sweet and juicy when cut. Here are a few tips to keep in mind while buying watermelons
- The watermelon should have a big yellow spot or patch on it just like shown in the picture below. If the spot is white, its a sign that the melon is still not ripe
- It should be heavy for its size when lifted. The heavier the melon, the more juicy it is
- The skin of the watermelon should be dark green. The darker, the better
- The oval or round watermelons are normally better than the elongated ones and are perfect to make this watermelon cocktail too

Printable Recipe
Ingredients
- 400 grams Seedless watermelon, roughly chopped
- ¼ cup mint leaves approximately
- 3-4 tbsps granulated sugar as per taste
- ¼ cup lime juice 60 ml
- ½ cup white rum or vodka 120 ml
- ½ cup chilled club soda, or as required
- 8-10 ice cubes
For garnishing
- 1 fresh lime, sliced
- 1 sprig mint
- 1 slice watermelon
Instructions
- Firstly, blend the chopped watermelon in a blender and strain it. Set the juice aside (tip – I don't always strain it if using seedless watermelon, love it with that grainy effect without straining)
- Next, in a tall glass or jar, add the mint leaves along with the sugar & lime juice. Muddle the mint leaves until the sugars dissolves. Takes about 15 seconds
- Add cubes of ice, white rum or vodka along with the watermelon juice. Stir well and add the club soda as required. Throw in some round slices of lemon
- Serve immediately in a glass and garnish it with a sprig of mint, lemon slices and watermelon chunks
