How to bake cheese crisps?

Step 1

Unwrap cheddar cheese slices and cut one slice into 4 parts (little squares)

Step 2

Place these on some parchment paper at a distance from one another. Bake at 180 degrees C for 15 to 20 minutes (this depends on your oven heating)

Step 3

Remove it from the oven and let it sit untouched at room temperature for 10 minutes

Step 4

Peel it off the sheets and enjoy the crisp taste of cheddar cheese

How to make cheese crisps without parchment paper

Trust me !! You gotta use PARCHEMENT PAPER and not aluminum foil or waxed paper. The crisp are going to stick to it and never peel off

Incase you do not have parchment paper, you may use silicone baking mat. It does the job, just like parchment paper

Tips to make the best Cheese Crisps at home

Use Parchment Paper

Yes !! That’s right. I’ve tried using waxed paper and foil and that lott just went into the garbage bin as the cheddar cheese crisps just didn’t peel off the sheets. Thus make sure to use parchement paper and they’ll peel off easily once firm (or even soft)

Do not brown the cheese

Cheddar cheese is already dark in color so you not have to work on the color while baking. The other reason you should not brown the cheese crisps is because they turn bitter as baked for longer or at a higher temp

Learn your oven

Every oven is different. In my oven these Keto cheese chips are ready in 20 minutes at 180 degree C however the heating in every oven is different. It may take 15 minutes or even 25 minutes in your oven

Rebake the chips if soft

If the chips are still soft after their out of the oven. Feel free to pop them in the oven for another 5 to 10 minutes. It can be rebaked anytime to bring back its crisp texture

Ingredients

  • 200 grams Cheddar Cheese 8-10 slices
  • Parchment Paper or Silicone Baking Mat

Instructions

  • Unwrap the cheddar cheese slices and cut each slice into four parts (like little squares)
  • Place these squares on a PARCHMENT PAPER or silicone mat and bake for 15 to 20 minutes. Do not brown them as they turn bitter
  • Sign that the crisp are done – The cheese will stop bubbling too much in the oven
  • Once done, remove the tray from the oven and set aside at room temperature for 10 minutes. Peel off the crisps from the sheets once ready and serve
  • To store, refrigerate it in an airtight container for upto a week
