Jams are a mere combination of sugar & fruit. Keeping that in mind, here’s are homemade strawberry jam recipe that’s not too sweet and not to thick as well. It’s got the right amount of sweetness with a spreadable consistency perfect for appylying on a slice of bread

How to make Strawberry Jam
1st step

Tips to remember while making Jam
Fruits
While using fruits to make jam, its always recommended to use over ripe fruits. However, to make this strawberry jam, its best to use a combination of overripe and the regular firmer strawberries. The regular strawberries are sour and add the right amount of sourness to the jam. Thus, in this recipe we do not add lemon juice for the sourness
Consistency
It’s said, once the jam is thick and falls off the spoon like a lump, its a sign that the jam is ready. However, I recommend you remove the jam off the gas once it coats the back of your spoon like a thick syrup. Remember !! Jams get thicker in texture as they cool down. So, the thick syrup will eventually get thicker and change into a jam like consistency. If removed off the gas when too thick, the jam feels lumpy and too firm to spread onto bread
Storage
Jam contains a good amount of sugar, and since sugar works as a preservative you can store the jam in the fridge for about 2 months in an airtight container or glass jar

Ingredients to make strawberry jam
Strawberries
It’s best to use fresh strawberries, however you may use frozen if that’s easily available. Use a combination of over ripe and regular firm strawberries. Over-ripe strawberries are sweet and regular firm, not so ripe strawberries are tarty (sour) in taste. This helps in balancing flavors
Sugar
Granular sugar is best. Fine or thick, doesn’t matter
