Is Nutella Healthy?
The store-brought nutella is known to contain a lot of sugar, calories and fat as it is made up of palm oil and loads of sugar
2 tablespoons of readymade nutella contains 200 calories as one of its main ingredients is sugar. Although the homemade version consist of sugar as well, it still made up of only 70 calories instead of 200 calories
So remember, store-brought nutella contains 70% saturated fats and processed sugar which makes it unhealthy. Homemade nutella is loaded with hazelnuts and no preservatives, making it a better option
Ingredients to make Nutella
Hazelnuts
Roast the hazelnuts before using. This brings out the flavor and makes it easier to grind. Roasting hazelnuts is an essential step to make nutella. Do not use hazelnuts with the skin on it
Cocoa powder
Use light brown cocoa powder. I’ve used dark brown cocoa powder, it gives it a richer and darker taste & look. If your looking for the original nutella color, the light brown cocoa will do the job
Sugar
Grind the sugar or simply use powdered sugar to make Nutella This makes it easier to make the nutella paste during the blending process
Salt
Just a pinch of it is essential to bring out the real flavor of the dish
Vanilla essence
I like to add a little bit of it to this recipe. An optional ingredient but a little bit gives it a nice flavor
Cooking oil
Adding additional oil, balances the consistency of this paste. It’s best to use flavorless oil, but feel free to use coconut oil as well
